Already Friday?

This week just flew by. I guess its time for... Fill in the Blank! So here ya are. To play along click here

1.   I am currently obsessed with  decorating my apartment! Kolby and I have been living here for a few month and it still needs some finishing touches.

2.  Today I am  tired   because,  Fridays are very busy at my work, and today was one of the busiest days we have every had.

3.  The age I am is 21  and the age I feel is  normally 21. Every now and again, I feel old because I get cranky and my back or my legs will hurt.

4.  My favorite place is my home. Nothing is better than come home after a long day or trip and  having that relaxing moment when you realize your at your home.

5.  Something I have been procrastinating is  signing up for my March classes.

 6.  The last thing I purchased was  a brick of tillamook cheese to make some yummy enchiladas with.

7.  The thing I love most about my home is  how inviting it is. Its full of love and living with my best friend isn't half bad either.

International Cat Day???

When I got off work today, I was looking around online. Like always, I stumbled onto Etsy. I was looking at the treasury and someone was saying that it was International Cat Day! I can't believe that this is a real thing and that I, the future cat lady, didn't know about it. I'm going to celebrate with a few pictures of my cats and a funny cat video. Enjoy!

This video isn't of my cat, but I found it here and I think it is super funny!

All you need is Love

Happy late Valentine's Day to all! Even though Kolby and I are not really into the whole V-day thing, I had a pretty good day and day after. As for Monday, all the girls that I work with wanted to dress up. So the week before Valentines Day, we all went and got matching shirts and socks to wear. Surprising enough we all wore them and looked really cute. when I was leaving my house I was thinking to myself, these socks are ridiculous, but it cute with all of us walking about in them. This is a picture of my good friend Krystle and I after work and before we went on our, what seems to be, weekly grocery store trip. Seriously, going grocery shopping with a friend makes such and boring task so much better! I actually get excited to fill up my fridge now.

My Mom also surprised me at work with a gift and some hugs and kisses. It was really great to see her. All my customer couldn't stop talking about how beautiful she is. I  have to agree that my mom is so beautiful!

At the store, along with other things, I got two wild caught lobster tails (which I have never cooked before or can even remember eating) and was going to cook them when I got home for dinner, but they had to thaw and it would have been to late for dinner so Kolby and I decided to cook and eat them another night.

So on to Tuesday. I had a hard day at work to say the least. By the time we were closing, I was still doing my side work, and had not eating since lunch.I was ready to get out of there, eat food, and enjoy knowing that I had the next day off. I called Kolby letting him know I was heading home and informed him of my crappy day. When I got home, candles were lit and my beautiful boyfriend was in the kitchen cooking our lobsters, his steak, and opening a bottle of Cabernet. Also, he had already made red mashed potatoes and asparagus! I couldn't believe it! It was perfect (not only because it was so damn cute) but I was so hungry, and nothing can fix a bad day then eating a great meal with the person you love. We ate our dinner in candle light (which I think was a first) and just talked and laughed. My bad day just floated away. A wonderful dinner with my wonderful boyfriend. Thanks Baby and Happy Valentines Day! Here are some sappy photos just to cap off the day of love.

One For One

Today I was looking at my shoes while I was slipping them on to drive Kolby to work and noticed that my flats are looking a little more than haggard. So instead of buying fifteen dollar ones at Target or something, I figured Id spend a little more to get some quality. I thought of Toms because they have their One for One program. If you are unfamiliar with Toms, then let me tell you a little about them. Every time you buy a pair for yourself, they send a pair of shoes to children in need them all over the world. So with my new shoes, someone who really needs a pair will get one too. I think its a great cause and I am glad to participate. So sometime soon, I'm going to order a pair and from what I hear, I will be pleased not only to help provide shoes for someone else, but that they are comfy and last.  I believe these are the ones I will order. The reason I haven't order yet, is Kolby's birthday is coming and I want to see if he wants some too. I'm pretty sure these are the ones I'm going to get.
Cute, casual, and vegan. Perfect!

Also, on April 5th, to promote awareness of how important shoes are, don't wear yours all day! I'm not sure how realistic this is for me because I can guarantee you that if I showed up to work with no shoes, my boss, customers, and my feet would be unhappy. (Maybe I'll be barefoot all day and just wear Toms at work..?)  But If I have the day off, I might just enjoy a day with no shoes at all. Learn more about One Day Without Shoes here or watch a short video from last years.

Quite Mornings

The last few weeks have been out of the ordinary for me. Kolby's truck has been in the shop for 2 week and its looking like its going to be there for awhile longer. Its not a huge fix, but they had to order a part so until they get it, we are down to one car. Its really not too bad being that we work at different times so gladly, I have been driving him to work the in morning.  I'm not what people would say "a morning person" but I seem to be doing quite well. Its been quite nice actually. We get up together, have coffee together, (things we normally do on our days off) and then I have a quite morning to myself with the girls until I head to work around one. Sometimes I do take a little nap (I know but I told you I'm not a morning gal!) but I'm am enjoying it and Kolby said he is too.

I mentioned in my last post that I was making a blue berry pie. It was really easy to make and it turned out great! I got the recipe from here and even though, the crust was a little boring, (would have been better for a pot pie then a sweet pie) it was beautiful looking and I'm glad I am expanding my cooking and baking skills. I want to make a strawberry rhubarb cobbler next time because come to think of it, I'm not a huge crust fan and a cobbler would be tastier in my opinion. Here are some photos of my first berry pie.

The pie was filled with so many fresh blueberries that it was running down the side after baking.

Of course served with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream.  Bon Appétit!

Weekend Recap

This past weekend, Kolby and I both had work off so we had a little date at Yard House in Westgate. It was fabulous. I couldn't believe how yummy my grilled cheese was. Of course its Yard House so its not your ordinary grilled cheese. It was this buttery, flaky bread with thick cheddar, gorgonzola, swiss, and fontina cheese oozing out of it, with roasted tomatoes, and I added avocados.  It also came with this organic tomato bisque which was just as awesome. Perfect pair. So if anyone is by a Yard House, get one and I'm sure you will be pleased. Kolby also said that it was the best burger he had had in a very long time. So hands down, great dinner and a great night out with Kolby.

On Saturday I also went to a baby shower for my friend Rosa. She and her husband are having their second baby at the beginning of April so congrats and I can't wait to met her.

Oh and for those of you wondering, I got my sewing machine! I love it and It works great. I hope to get some projects started here real soon. Ive been looking at all things sewing lately to get some ideas. I think my first job will be a very easy one just to get  the hang of it. I'm going to make produce bags for when I go grocery shopping. I always bring the reusable shopping bags because they can hold so much and it makes hauling it all so much easier. (and its better than wasting all the plastic bags the store gives you!) So I want to do that with my fruits and veggies too. No more wasting bags just to carry my broccoli or plums out of the store. This is the sort of thing I mean...

I found theses on the Etsy shop Oh Little Rabbit and got inspired. Wednesdays are my day off during the week, so I hope to have things all up and running before next Wednesday and make some bags of my own. I'll document the process and post the results for you next Wednesday.

My task today is making a blue berry pie. I have never made one all from scratch before so I hope it comes out beautiful and tasty. The other night Kolby said, "I haven't had a pie in a while. I would love a blue berry pie." And I agree with him totally. With the cold and windy day that we are having, A warm pie will be perfect. If its really tasty, ill post the ingredients.

Maybe after my produce bags, Ill make a cute apron to cook in.
